If you finish reading the Mantle of the Prophet anytime soon, could I borrow it from you? Spring quarter I did a research paper on politics and religion in the Middle East, and some of the stuff I came across was fascinating. I'd be interested to see what this book has to say about it.

Ah, damn. There'll definitely have to be a next time, then, I guess. I didn't see a whole lot of wildlife, actually. No snakes in the deserts. We did see some goats on our rafting trip, way up on some cliffs. And now and again I saw some bunnies in various places. Most of the time my greatest interaction was with all the dragonflies and bugs alongside the roads.

Ahhh yeah, I imagine with all of it covered in snow, while it may have been a bit slower going it was probably a beautiful sight to see!

And by many hours later, I mean several minutes, but still it took us twice as long as it should have to get to Eastwold's house.

I was absolutely not amused. We were lost and I wanted real advice. Aeden gives me his usual sass, and many hours later we pass and Arby's, giving him the victory in the argument. Horrible.

Unfortunately, you drove just north of the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, passing through the Mojave and Great Basin Deserts instead. Saguaro cacti grow in the Sonoran Desert.

Speaking of things you did on your road trip, see any interesting wildlife?

You should have made a detour and seen the giant sequoias...though maybe those were too far north, I'm not sure. Still, as I recall, they are ridiculously impressive.
